Case study 1

The Museum der Kulturen Basel offered the case study Meditation Box which exhibits a mandala and is a unit of the long term exhibition StrohGold – kulturelle Transformationen sichtbar gemacht.

The inside of the meditation box is composed of a central round sofa and a mandala displayed at the wall. Additional information was audible and visually projected onto a semi-transparent textile making direct reference to the mandala. The two interaction devices capacitive lotus blossom and biofeedback chest belt were illuminated according to visitor behaviour and triggered two animations: The first explaining meditation techniques of a foreign culture and the second transferring meditation techniques to a Western experience.
